Notorious B.I.G. Scripted Comedy In The Works!

Biggie is coming to TBS. Nearly 20 years after his death, the network has announced that it is developing a scripted comedy inspired by the late Notorious B.I.G.

According to Billboard, “Think B.I.G.” is set to focus on a teenage father of two in the inner city, trying to make his way, with storylines loosely based on Biggie’s rhymes. The series is being created and produced by Mass Appeal, in partnership with Wayne Barrow of Bystorm Films and Voletta Wallace for Notorious B.I.G. Inc.

Mass Appeal is also teaming with TBS for “Storyville,” a digital series where celebrities share stories that are then animated. A few test runs have been released online, including the one below, where Questlove speaks on an encounter with Prince.

In a statement through The Hollywood Reporter, Brett Weitz, Executive Vice President of Original Programming at TBS, says this is the start of a budding partnership.

“‘Storyville’ [and] ‘Think B.I.G.’ speak to the types of projects we will cultivate with Mass Appeal moving forward,” said Weitz. “Mass Appeal is a leader in developing unique stories with diverse voices. There’s no better partner for us to connect with this vibrant, impassioned audience.”

Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie, has already been the subject of the 2009 biopic Notorious starring Angela Bassett, Jamal Woolard, and Naturi Naughton.
