BBC Blasted For Showing Johnny Depp's Film amid Amber Heard Abuse Allegations

The BBC has been slammed for scheduling a Johnny Depp film for broadcast amid domestic violence allegations from his estranged wife Amber Heard.

The actor's film, Alice in Wonderland, in which he plays the supporting role of The Mad Hatter, will air on BBC Two at 8.30pm on Saturday June 4, a decision that has been slammed as “insensitive” by disgusted viewers.

According to The Sun the corporation has been 'blasted' with one viewer apparently tweeting:

"Of course, the BBC have scheduled a Johnny Depp film to be shown at prime kiddy time. Solid role model."

Another reportedly added: "So insensitive in light of what's currently happening."

The move comes as the divorce between Amber Heard and Depp reached new levels with the actress suing the actor's friend Doug Stanhope over his blackmail allegations.

In court documents, seen by People magazine , Heard claims that Depp's pal "orchestrated a plot to write an article, which was published at TheWrap.com, which falsely accuses plaintiff Amber Heard of 'blackmail' and other criminal behaviour towards her husband, Johnny Depp, from whom she is seeking a divorce."

She called his claims "completely false and defamatory" and claimed that his article had caused her “tremendous harm”.

The new court filing also details more alleged abuse by the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, where she alleged that he had “nearly suffocated her”.

Johnny Depp's lawyers strenuously denied the claims and said Amber is making false claims to get a divorce settlement out of Depp reportedly worth £35,000 a month.

According to Amber's lawyer, Charles J. Harder, the actress is after the “maximum possibly jury award” and if successful, is planning to donate the money to a domestic violence charity in Arizona.
