The legislative arm of the Lagos State government has made known its plan to make land grabbing a criminal offense in the state.
The State House of Assembly members during their plenary sitting yesterday July 19th, passed a bill seeking to criminalize the act. The bill was passed on the back of the third reading, and it prohibits forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties; violent and fraudulent conduct in relation to landed properties in Lagos State.
This said bill has been forwarded to the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode for his assent. Mudashiru Obasa who is the sepaker of the Lagos state house of Assembly stated clearly that the passage of the bill into law will attract sanction to any person who is found wanting as regards the act.
