Mary Taylor Previte, a woman in her 80s, on Wednesday reunited with a Chinese man who rescued her during the Second World War. She traveled thousands of miles from New Jersey, US, to Guiyang in southwest China’s Guizhou Province.
For decades Mary never gave up hope of finding Eddie Wang, a member of a rescue team that saved her from a Japanese concentration camp in Weifang, east China’s Shandong Province, where she and her brothers and sisters had been imprisoned since the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
Giving her 91-year-old comrade a warm embrace, Mary expressed her sincere gratitude and said over and over again that Eddie Wang is her hero.
Eddie Wang was also delighted about the reunion, saying that it must have been destiny that brought the pair together once again.
